COMMUNITY SHOUT OUT - January 2023

Pravina Vagehla was one of the eight fellows who joined our first  Zindagi Fellowship in 2021. Pravina also showcased her enterprising nature during the course of the fellowship. Even before she had joined her fellowship, she had started two businesses which were unsuccessful at the time. Pravina shared over a call, “When I joined the Zindagi fellowship, it helped me set a goal. After the training, I was more confident and determined to venture again into entrepreneurship and own a business.” 

Pravina started her clothes business two-month back wherein she sells saree, short kurtas,  pants and dress material for salwar kurtas, all sourced from Kutch, Gujarat. Currently, she has set up a small space at her home that she is using for her business. However, once the business is better she hopes to get a bigger space and open a shop similar to a boutique. She says, “I am very hopeful and optimistic about the clothes business.”

Pravina shares with us, how a few years back when she worked as a security guard in a hostel, she sold dress-material and sarees as a part-time salesperson for a friend. She stopped her business, but people who bought the materials from her kept on contacting her since they loved the material and the prints.

Pravina is now more than ever prepared and determined to make her small business a success. She also makes handmade jewellery that goes along well with ethnic dresses. Her business is just two-month-old, but there is a long journey ahead with several plans and ideas already bouncing off.
